OpenZeppelin said on September 24, 2026, that its smart contract libraries and security development suite now support the TRON network. The integration brings audited contract components, upgrade tools and developer utilities to the TRON ecosystem, allowing teams to build, deploy and maintain on-chain applications in line with the network's technical standards.
For TRON developers, the tools cover token issuance, access control, governance and applications that require long-term upgrades. OpenZeppelin said the offering includes audited smart contract libraries, security upgrade tools and Contracts Wizard, giving teams access to established contract modules and security checks during development. The suite also includes AI-assisted development features, although their practical use still depends on each team's code-review and deployment processes.
Tools target TRON token and governance needs
The TRON release is not a simple port of the existing products. OpenZeppelin said the tools have been adapted to the network's capabilities and support more complex requirements, including passkey authentication, supply controls, permission management and governance. Developers can retain upgrade flexibility while establishing clearer rules for permissions and token supply.
Sam Elfarra, a spokesperson for the TRON DAO community, said security is a foundation for expanding the range of applications built in the TRON ecosystem. He said OpenZeppelin's tools and standards are already widely used by blockchain developers, and that bringing them to TRON could reduce migration and development costs while providing infrastructure for applications designed to operate at scale.
Pepe Blasco, an engineering manager at OpenZeppelin, said developers need foundational components that are designed for the networks where they will actually be deployed and that they can trust. Bringing the contracts and development tools to TRON allows teams to continue using security workflows familiar from other blockchain ecosystems while addressing the network's own production requirements, he said.
Stablecoins remain a major TRON use case
TRON supports stablecoins, decentralized finance, payments and other on-chain applications. The TRON DAO said that, as of September 2026, the network had more than 405 million cumulative user accounts, over 15 billion cumulative transactions and total value locked of more than $29 billion, citing data from TRONSCAN.
The TRON DAO also said that more than $94 billion of USDT is currently circulating on the network. Stablecoin transfers and everyday payments are important use cases for TRON, making support for permission controls, supply management and future upgrades directly relevant to issuers, protocol developers and application operators.
Deployment will determine the security outcome
Founded in 2015, OpenZeppelin describes its OpenZeppelin Contracts library as foundational infrastructure for secure development in on-chain finance and smart contracts. The company said the library has supported the transfer of $37 trillion in value and that more than 10,000 vulnerabilities have been identified through over 900 security services before products reached the market.
Those scale and security figures were provided by OpenZeppelin. The results in any individual application will still depend on how developers use the contract components, conduct code audits and manage upgrade permissions. TRON support gives teams the option to use OpenZeppelin's libraries and tools on the network's existing infrastructure, but application security, permission settings and asset risks must still be assessed according to the specific protocol and deployment.
