The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has rejected the recall request for approximately 2.26 million Tesla vehicles, determining that there is no evidence of a safety defect.
The petition mainly targeted the risk of unintended acceleration due to "single-pedal driving." The regulatory body stated that the number of related incidents was limited and vehicle data showed the system responded to driver inputs as expected.
This decision eliminates the risk of a large-scale recall for Tesla, but regulatory pressure remains. NHTSA is currently conducting further investigations into about 3.2 million vehicles equipped with the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system.
On the market front, the stock fell by about 3.18% that day, reflecting investors' concerns over ongoing regulatory uncertainties.
