Development History
Murex's development history dates back to 1986 when two graduates, Laurent Néel and Salim Edde, founded the company in Paris and developed the first options trading and risk platform. Subsequently, Laurent Néel and Salim Edde expanded the platform to support other asset classes, becoming a cross-asset platform that solved the problem of isolated trading.
In 1996, Murex opened offices in New York and Tokyo, and its client base rapidly expanded. In 2000, Murex launched its second-generation cross-asset front-to-back-to-risk platform, MX Generation 2000.
In 2005, Murex launched the third-generation platform MX.3, which natively integrated funding, collateral management, clearing, and real-time risk management. In 2010, Murex developed an enterprise-grade collateral management solution to help clients meet new regulatory requirements.
