HYPE Token Added to Hashdex Nasdaq CME Crypto Index ETF
Hyperliquid’s native token, HYPE, has been newly included in the portfolio of the US-listed Hashdex Nasdaq CME Crypto Index ETF (ticker: NCIQ) with a 3.4% allocation. This marks the token’s first inclusion in this ETF, positioning it as the fund’s fifth largest holding behind Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), and Solana (SOL).
Rebalancing Brings Changes to ETF Asset Weights
The ETF tracks the Nasdaq CME Crypto Index (NCI), developed jointly by Nasdaq and CME, which calculates daily closing prices of crypto assets based on established standards from both exchanges. As of September 1, the fund’s net assets stood at approximately $431 million, with a closing price of $19.46 and a net asset value of $19.50 per share.
Recent portfolio adjustments lowered Bitcoin’s weight from 78% to 74.6%, while Solana’s allocation increased slightly to 3.7% from 3.2%. HYPE’s entry at 3.4% allowed it to surpass other prominent crypto assets such as Cardano (ADA), Chainlink (LINK), and Stellar (XLM), securing its spot among the top five holdings.
HYPE’s Market Trajectory and Use Case
Hyperliquid is a Layer-1 blockchain focused on on-chain perpetual contract trading, enabling traders to speculate on price movements without owning the underlying assets. The HYPE token recently benefited from a reserve-backed buyback initiative, which helped push its price to a record high of $84.80 at the end of August, reflecting positive market reception.
The inclusion of HYPE in this major ETF highlights the token’s growing presence in the crypto market and points to an increasingly diversified asset approach within ETF products. This development may enhance liquidity and investor interest in Hyperliquid. Nonetheless, investors should remain mindful of the inherent price volatility of digital assets and understand the specifics of the ETF’s investment framework.
