No New Bitcoin Acquisitions Reported Over the Week
Virginia-based Strategy has confirmed it did not add any Bitcoin to its holdings during the week of August 17–23. The company’s Bitcoin balance remains steady at 840,447 coins, originally acquired for approximately $63.36 billion at an average price near $75,385 per BTC. This stash represents roughly 4% of Bitcoin’s maximum supply of 21 million coins.
Cash Reserves Reach $6.69 Billion to Boost Financial Flexibility
The latest financial update reveals that Strategy's total U.S. dollar reserves and cash holdings have increased to $6.69 billion, comprised of $5.1 billion in U.S. dollar reserves alongside $1.59 billion in cash accounts. Founder Michael Saylor highlighted that this cash buffer expands the company's operational flexibility, granting multiple options including further Bitcoin purchases, preferred stock dividend payments, interest on debt, stock repurchases, and convertible bond repayments.
Focused Capital Deployment on Preferred Stock Buybacks
During the same period, Strategy executed an at-the-market (ATM) equity offering, selling 18.26 million MSTR shares to raise roughly $2.01 billion in net proceeds. Out of these funds, $300 million were added to the dollar reserves, while $136.4 million was allocated toward repurchasing STRC preferred shares. To date, the company has bought back approximately 1.43 million STRC shares, retaining $516.6 million of its preferred stock repurchase budget and maintaining an additional $1 billion capacity for MSTR share repurchases.
Maintaining Strategic Agility in Bitcoin and Securities Holdings
Michael Saylor remarked that increasing cash reserves not only fortifies STRC’s financial foundation but also lengthens the maturity profile of company debts, extending the dollar runway to 3.9 years and reducing debt credit costs modestly to 59 basis points. Although Strategy held steady without new Bitcoin acquisitions last week, it remains poised to adapt its capital allocation dynamically in response to market developments and security opportunities.
Market participants are closely watching how Strategy utilizes its $1.59 billion cash holdings moving forward—whether to expand Bitcoin exposure, underpin preferred stock securities, repurchase ordinary shares, or maintain liquidity as a strategic reserve. The recent $2 billion capital raise that did not trigger additional Bitcoin buying, coupled with ongoing preferred stock transactions, makes the company’s next moves particularly noteworthy in the current market environment.
