AI Data Center Construction Exceeds Expectations

Global semiconductor leader Nvidia has once again become the focus of the capital market's attention. A recent report from Barclays indicates that with the acceleration of investment in artificial intelligence data centers, Nvidia's future market space could be greater than previously anticipated. The team of analysts candidly acknowledged that just months ago, they were skeptical about CEO Jensen Huang's statement regarding a "trillion-dollar AI infrastructure construction." However, as more companies announce expansion plans, this prediction even appears "too conservative."

At the GTC conference, Jensen Huang emphasized that AI infrastructure will drive a wave of data center construction in the coming years, and this view is now gradually gaining consensus on Wall Street.

Industry Capital Expenditure May Surpass Two Trillion Dollars

Barclays' team of analysts has revised their previous market estimates by tracking global computing power expansion data. They estimate that by 2030, investments related to AI infrastructure could reach two trillion dollars, with the majority focused on computing power and high-speed network equipment, accounting for as much as 65% to 70%.

More notably, analysts point out that if the current pace of transactions continues, Jensen Huang's forecast in the financial report of "three to four trillion dollars in spending" is not unattainable. This suggests that AI computing power demand may far exceed the market's early expectations, ushering the industry into a new cycle of capital expenditure.

Nvidia Stock Potential Recognized

Against this backdrop, Barclays has raised Nvidia's target price from $200 to $240, representing more than a 35% increase from the latest closing price of $176.97. The report states that Nvidia has become the "most attractive" stock in the semiconductor sector covered by the firm, due to its product line being at the core of the AI industrial chain.

Analysts indicate that over the past year, global shipment data of GPUs and related chips have sufficiently demonstrated the market's reliance on Nvidia's technology. This trend is expected to further amplify in the coming years.

Industry Landscape and Competition Outlook

Although Nvidia's market-leading position is difficult to shake, the competitive landscape is gradually changing. Companies like AMD, Intel, and several Chinese local chip enterprises are accelerating their research and development of AI computing power-related products, aiming to capture a share of this rapidly growing market.

However, Barclays believes that in the short term, Nvidia still possesses a significant advantage, especially with the support of the CUDA ecosystem and high-performance GPU product lines. Its market share is expected to remain high. Even as competition intensifies, Nvidia will continue to be the biggest beneficiary of the AI capital expenditure wave.

Risks for Investors to Watch

It is important to note that analysts also caution investors about potential uncertainties in Nvidia's future trajectory. Firstly, global macroeconomic fluctuations may impact the speed of corporate capital expenditure in the AI sector; secondly, chip export controls and geopolitical factors might pose constraints to the company's prospects.

Nevertheless, overall, Barclays maintains a bullish stance, believing that improvements in industry fundamentals and substantial investment commitments will continue to drive Nvidia's growth story.
