Walmart and Sam’s Club launched a new annual membership bundle on October 20, combining Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus for $120 a year. The two memberships cost $218 when purchased separately, creating a potential $98 saving for households that shop regularly at both retailers as the holiday shopping season approaches.
One annual fee covers both memberships
The bundle combines Walmart’s everyday shopping and delivery services with Sam’s Club’s bulk-buying benefits under a single annual membership. Customers can use Walmart for routine household purchases and Sam’s Club for bulk-packaged food and other goods without paying separate annual membership fees.
Walmart+ costs $98 per year, while Sam’s Club Plus costs $120. Renewing both memberships separately would bring the total to $218. The new bundle costs $120, producing a $98 difference on paper. For households that already use both retailers or their delivery services, the actual savings will depend on whether they make regular use of both sets of benefits.
Existing members have several upgrade paths
Customers without either membership can sign up directly for both Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus at the bundled price of $120 per year. Existing annual Walmart+ members can add Sam’s Club Plus by paying an additional $22.
Customers with a standard Sam’s Club membership must pay an extra $60 to upgrade to Plus and receive Walmart+. Those who already hold Sam’s Club Plus can add Walmart+ at no additional cost.
Customers currently paying for both Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus can link their accounts and may receive a prorated refund for the remaining Walmart+ term. The refund amount and processing method depend on the individual account. Existing members should review the upgrade details displayed in their accounts before making changes.
Delivery orders still have minimums
The bundle does not eliminate minimum order requirements for all delivery orders. Walmart’s free scheduled delivery requires a minimum order of $35, while the corresponding threshold at Sam’s Club is $50. Customers buying the membership mainly for frequent, small delivery orders may see different savings depending on order size and usage frequency.
Sam’s Club Plus also includes a 2% Sam’s Cash benefit. The benefit is tied to Sam’s Club Plus status, and earning and redemption remain subject to the retailer’s specific terms. For households that already shop at both retailers, the main change is the consolidation of the two annual membership fees—not a change to product prices or the removal of delivery thresholds.
The holiday shopping use case
As the holidays approach, purchases of food, household supplies and gifts typically become more concentrated. Sam’s Club caters to bulk and large-format purchases, while Walmart covers routine restocking and a broader range of retail needs. Households using both stores may therefore find the combined membership more convenient during the season.
The potential $98 saving, however, depends on whether a customer would otherwise purchase both memberships and make consistent use of delivery, Sam’s Cash and other benefits. Customers who shop at only one retailer or rarely use delivery services may receive less practical value than the advertised fee difference.
